WHAT YOU’LL DO IN THIS CLASS:
In this class, you’ll learn to respond with spontaneity and truth, tapping into a more authentic and grounded version of yourself. Modern audiences connect with honesty rather than “performed” acting, so the focus is on learning how to stop acting and start responding naturally.
You will practice committing fully to your creative instincts, and make clearer, stronger choices. You’ll also learn to think quickly under pressure, use play to build confidence and ease in communication, and tell more compelling, engaging stories.
-
(Large group.) A physical game to warm up your body and mind. Usually involves working as an ensemble or team. These games generate a joyful approach to this work, and joy is a big part of transformation.
-
Usually is a workout in smaller groups or pairs. Working on exercises to trigger responses in playful scenarios. You are never put on the spot alone without the support of a partner at this stage. So you play with that partner-Play is what strengthens acting muscles and helps to increase your presence in the moment.
-
This section will have you thinking on your feet and often switching from one partner to the next, fast. This is a busy, energised class with a lot of interaction. You get very good at tuning into what will help optimise results in each and every partnership. Again the class works because there is joy in constantly changing partner. Judgement is not possible- only full on states of play which ultimately support freedom of play. That is liberating.
-
These tend to be text-based duologue scenes. So you are in it together! The text work covers a large range of genres from “The Incredibles ", “The Office”, ‘The Matrix” “Waiting for Godot” to the masterpiece that is “Under Milkwood”.
