There are TEN different tools that can be applied to any and all text that we cover here.

These are very practical tools that you will come to recognise are industry standards. It’s always exciting when you start to be able to recognise the tools that film and TV practitioners are using.

By working out once a week with your scene partner you are also exercising your ‘Acting Muscles’. Actors are similar to dancers, in that they have themselves as their artistic instrument. Also what improves acting, like dancing, is the practice of acting.

First class is a Cold Read with material provided. Then scenes are assigned. The scenes are approximately two to three pages of dialogue, so not a vast amount of memorisation.

The TEN different tools are also ways of training you to have a spontaneous emotional response to the material. In that respect they are more akin to film acting techniques as film is really more about responding as opposed to the more classic ideas of “acting”.

So they are acutely observed dynamics from life that if we apply them to our work can create truthful human responses. The magic ingredient however is JOY. It is always for the actor to find their JOY. So all the tools can only work if they are used to create more joy in the playing.

We are after all ‘Making Believe’- or ‘Playing” - whatever phrase has more resonance for you. YOU and your JOY are the most important things in creating success in your performance.

What students have to say

★★★★★
I have attended a few terms of Juliets (level 1) acting classes. They are incredible. It’s a great, safe space to bring you out of your comfort zone and build confidence. Juliet brings great energy and awesome teachings. I have learnt so much through her classes. As well as it being an open fun space, she helps you understand the professional side of things and gets you ready to approach agencies etc if that’s what you want to do. Excellent course 😊
